About Thermochron Systems

Thermochron Systems LLC was founded in early 2024 in Sacramento, California. It is owned and operated by Dr. Adam S. Goldsmith, who is also the sole employee.

Adam earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology in 2009 from the University of Kansas. He then moved to Austin, Texas, to study the effects of radiation damage on helium diffusion in zircon, for which he received his doctoral degree from the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin in 2018.

After receiving his PhD, he worked as a lab manager and research faculty under Dr. Julie Fosdick's Basin Analysis and Helium Thermochronology Laboratory at the University of Connecticut. In 2021, Adam moved to Sacramento to work for Applied Spectra as their Instrument Specialist, supporting the Alphachron and RESOlution laser system — a position he held for three years.

In 2024, Adam decided to take over the Alphachron product line and began Thermochron Systems LLC — bringing together over a decade of hands-on experience in thermochronology research and instrument support.
